Am I the only one that freakin hates labels? And freakin stereotypes, just because you dress a certain way doesnt mean your depressed or w/e. People call me emo, I’ll admit to them that thats how I dress and look, doesnt mean they know me or nothin. They don’t know whether I’m depressed or happy or anything. Some things that people maylabel me emo, idk…im shy, dye my hair black/wear black mostly/tight jeans,play guitar/drums(?), dont force smiles, dont smile often, love music, eyeliner, w/e. But alo of the people commenting on here are basically just saying they’re depressed, so are they all tryin to say being emo is being depressed? Emo means emotional, and just about everyone is. Some may show more then others, I would say im more emotional then most people, but it doesnt mean im always depressed or nothin. Theres my opinion, like it or not I dont care…….

Okay, um…. hello everyone! I felt like giving my two cents. If this offends anyone, i truly am sorry.
My two cents:
First off, let’s recognize that the term “emo” means emotional. Everyone is emotional. How about the term “cutter”? It makes more sense, and doesn’t get such a rise out of people.
Secondly, let’s recognize that we shouldn’t brag about cutting ourselves, or crying ourselves to sleep. It shows that you are very desperate for attention.
Thirdly, let’s recognize that we shouldn’t place ourselves under a label. Sure, you may cut yourself, that doesn’t mean that you should go around calling yourself “emo”.
There are different situations for cutting. You shouldn’t just assume that everyone cuts themselves for merely one reason. It’s a lot more complicated than that.
And also…. once you start cutting yourself, you usually don’t go back. You’re in for life.

The majority of “emo’s” are little adolescent pipsqueaks who are too cowardly to face up to problems that others come across. Modern days society has become so protective that it’s raising idiots like you lot, who run from problems and try to gain attention by dressing like muppets and slitting your wrists.
Think back to WWI and WWII. Half the people fighting in those wars were your ages (generalising because I don’t know, or havn’t seen any emo’s above the age of 25) and did they go and slit themselves? No! And if you ask me, they were alot more entitled to do so. But they had some backbone, and kept up with it whilst their friends, and possibly family, were getting massacred left, right and centre.
Now consider your problems. You get bullied perhaps? Maybe mommy cut your allowance for a month. I don’t know. Maybe you have a real reason, like, your moms just died recently, or something like that. Fine. Full sympathy for you. But don’t make a bloody scene out of it, deal with it. It’s hard I know, I experienced my parents deaths, both at the same time - car accident. Now that f**king hurt, but do you know what? I dealt with it. I dealt with it without self harm and pointless attention seeking.
Now some of you are going to say things in response to this that aren’t true in any way, shape or form. It’s expected, internet idenity, nobody knows who you are, but at least take in what I’ve said and stop being so bloody pathetic. Maybe once you’ve done that you won’t get bullied as much as you have in the past. Why? Because you won’t be considered a Freak for cutting yourselves and making an unescesary scene.

Emo is not a lifestyle or a fashion or a trend or any of the other things that people have called it. It doesn’t mean someone who has cuts on their arms, or cries all the time, or dresses in black. It has nothing to do with that. All it is is a label. A label to categorise people when they have nowhere else to be put. A label to try to explain how they feel that doesn’t come across so well, so it has become a stereotype. Take the word “emo” away, and the person is still the same. And a person is not emo; they just have emo ways of thinking and behaving. They are not the label, they just fall into that category by chance. So give them a chance and get to know them before dismissing them as freaks.

I hate emo’s who say they are emo coz they cut themselves or coz they have depression, its a shit exuse. theres no such thing as emo when ur talking about emotions, i agreee with “RSN” EMO is a fashion not an emotion. and for f*ck sake everyone goes through sh!t in their life but most emo’s i know havent been through sh!t, they think because their parents take their fone off them and they are grounded and sh!t like that, that their life is over then they rebell and get all depressed when their parents kik them out coz they caused it on themselves. There are real people out there with real problems like being raped and falling pregnant which alot of people go through or other serious sh!t like that, but they arent out there making a huge scene about it. so all EMO’s shuold grow the f*ck up and get over their pathetic problems.
